Sentence patterns and vocabulary that help the learner to express their sense of place and the location of special places in their home town are incorporated to make the experience relevant to each individual. Students learn to identify places in their community and give and receive directions in Hawaiian. Course activities include practice exercises, vocabulary Podcasts, games (downloadable for mobile access), and interactive activities designed to help strengthen the Hawaiian language base. This course is designed as an enrichment offering through our Kamehameha Schools' Distance Learning A'o Makua program for parents and caregivers of young Hawaiian children with the intent that the learning opportunity be shared with the entire family. {panel}{column}{column:width=50%} {panel:title=...From the Author| borderStyle=solid| borderColor=#c0c0c0| titleBGColor=#1E90FF| bgColor=#FFFFFF} "The Blackboard Exemplary Course Program is an invaluable tool in terms of providing guided-self assessment as well as constructive feedback from professionals in the field of distance learning for our Kamehameha Schools' Distance Learning programs. Such feedback allows us to identify areas of strength and weakness within our courses and ensures that student learning outcomes are not just met but, held to higher standards." {panel}{column}{section} | |
