Q: What is the deadline for submitting a course to the 2009 Exemplary Course Program?

A: January 12, 2009 is the deadline for submitting your course.

Q: What can I do to prepare my course for submission to the program?

A: In preparation for submitting your course to the program, I recommend familiarizing yourself with the ECP 2009 Submission form. It contains the instructions for describing your course, a rubric to answer questions about each aspect of your online course, and information about providing the reviewers login credentials to your course.

Q: Am I permitted to use the rubric while I prepare my course?

A: Yes, indeed you may. Using the rubric is greatly encouraged.

Q: Once I've completed the course, how do I submit it for review?

A: Once you have completed the ECP 2009 Submission form you'll need to formally submit the course for review. You can do so by clicking on the Submit Your Course link. You'll fill out a brief form with your contact information and upload your completed ECP 2009 Submission form and any other supporting documentation or information.

Q: What are the benefits associated with submitting a course?

A: There are numerous benefits associated with submitting a course:

  • Learn course design best practices to improve the engagement, collaboration, assessment and learner support within your own courses
  • Develop a fresh perspective by seeing how other instructors and designers from your discipline or area of interest are developing their courses
  • Apply lessons learned from the Exemplary Course Rubric to your own courses or those you are helping to develop
  • Receive detailed feedback on your own course development on the best practices you are employing or areas in which it can be improved
  • Gain professional development experience and recognition for your accomplishments and participation in the program

Course Submitters receive detailed feedback from multiple reviewers and Exemplary Course Directors about their online course. All participants receive a certificate of appreciation.

This is a valuable learning experience for even the most seasoned instructor or designer.
