Course Description

Art Fundamentals is an art history course that is taught, not from the traditional linear, chronological-historical perspective, but from the broader view of looking at the universal language of art through the study of theory, terminology, themes, design principles, media and the history of the visual arts across time and diverse cultures. A rich variety of assessments and assignments offer students, with differing learning styles, the tools to build meaning while acquiring an understanding of the conceptual goals that are reflected in the student learning outcomes established for the course. Through the organization and presentation of course materials, students are constantly prompted to think about the most fundamental of questions in relation to art, "What is art?"
